Renault Kadjar 2017 - First Look
Let’s take a look at the Kadjar - Renault’s first attempt at a crossover vehicle since the failure of the Koleos back in 2008.
The Qashqai is already a huge seller in the UK and Renault is no doubt hoping to follow in its success with the brand new bigger, and cheaper Kadjar.
It has 3 different engine options to choose from. We recommend steering clear of the 1.2 turbocharged petrol engine (the cheapest of the three) and go for one of the more powerful diesel options; either the 109bhp 1.5-litre (the only engine with which you can spec’ the ‘EDC’ automatic gearbox) or the 128bhp 1.6 – the 1.6 being an all-wheel drive system.
The Kadjar’s boasts fantastic boot space being 42-litres more capacious than a Qashqai’s. That means 472-litres of space, or 1,478 with the seats folded. Plenty of room!
And the passenger compartment is almost as generously spacious. Rear legroom is adequate, but regular carriers of taller passengers will want to avoid the optional panoramic roof, which dips into rear headroom. No such problem up front where passengers can enjoy playing with the new ‘R-Link 2’ infotainment system, which is standard on all bar base ‘Expression +’ cars.
Renault’s mid-sized crossover is stylish, comfortable, and by the looks of it all, poised for success. The style and usability introduced with the Captur are built on here, and the competence of the running gear is unquestionable. The cost saving over an equivalent Qashqai makes it yet more enticing. Here’s a video to take a closer look.
